Start Abroad serves Spring-admitted University of Miami students who want to begin their college experience in a global setting. Through carefully selected partner institutions, students earn UM-approved academic credit, live alongside other UM students, and gain valuable experience navigating college life during their first semester.
Our approach focuses on supporting students as they build independence, confidence, and responsibility from day one. Start Abroad is often a student’s first direct connection to the University of Miami, helping them develop the skills and habits needed for a smooth transition to campus. By the time students arrive in Miami for the spring semester, they are academically prepared, socially connected, and ready to fully engage as members of the UM community.
